Christian publishers win ‘Best Books’ awards Print

Several Christian publishers' titles have been recognized with The National "Best Books" 2009 Awards, recently announced by USABookNews.com, an online magazine and book review Web site.

Two Judson Press books were among the winners. Profiles in Black: Phat Facts for Teens by Marvin A. McMickle won in the African American Studies category, while Addicted to Hurry: Spiritual Strategies for Slowing Down by Kirk Byron Jones was recognized in the Audiobook: Spiritual category.

Marriage 101: Building a Life Together by Faith by Jewell R. Powell (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) won in the Religion: Christian Inspiration category, while Proud Parents' Guide to Raising Athletic, Balanced, and Coordinated Kids: A Lifetime of Benefit in Just 10 Minutes A Day by Karen Ronney
(Thomas Nelson) was recognized in the Education PreK-12 category.

More than 500 winners and finalists were in 140-plus categories covering print and audiobooks. The awards were announced Oct. 20 for titles published in 2009 and late 2008.
