Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of the The Potter's House in Dallas and author of Before You Do (Atria), told his congregation last Sunday that a last-minute change of plans kept him from being killed in a natural gas explosion at his Fort Worth, Texas, home earlier this month.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Jakes said he would have been getting dressed near the site of the blast if he hadn't suddenly had a feeling that he should cancel a meeting. Because of that, he was nowhere near the sunroom of his home when the explosion occurred June 7.

According to WFAA-TV, Jakes was in another home on the property at the time of the blast. Lt. Ken Worley, spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department, said the explosion--which did not cause any structural damage to the 15,000-square-foot home--appeared to be accidental, but that no cause had been established, the News reported.

"God is so faithful," Jakes wrote at his blog. "The open display of love and affirmation from our church was amazing. We wept like babies as we reflected on what could have been had God not done what He did. So many statements of love and concern for my well-being and the well-being of my family left an indelible impression on my soul."
