A husband-wife pastoral team has found a new source of income—baby apparel. In ministry for more than 20 years, pastors Roberto and Marcia Marques last month purchased Little Disciples from Vick Asmerian, who decided to focus on another product line in parent company Klinky.

Formerly senior pastors of Foursquare Gospel Church in Brockton, Mass., the Marques moved to plant a new church for Portuguese speakers in San Diego. As they were praying for a source of income to support their ministry, they learned that Asmerian was thinking of selling the Little Disciples division.

In the market since 2008, Little Disciples will now be family-run by the couple and their two teenage children, though they plan to hire in late summer as the company grows.

The new owners plan to expand the product line to include long-sleeved body suits, socks, pacifiers and diaper bags, the latter to be released this fall.

Motivated by the potential of the business, Marcia said: “We have been so blessed by the tremendous support of the public. People find us on the Internet and send emails with testimonials and suggestions for new products. They ask where they can see the products, and we refer them to the retailers in our database.”

Retailers interested in becoming authorized resellers can place orders at www.little-disciples.com. For more information, call 760-392-0111.
