Superchick's "One More" was recently featured in Animal Planet's Jockeys, according to the group's label, Inpop Records. Additionally, the group's "Breathe" is being featured in promotions for NBC's new medical drama Trauma.

Both songs are from Superchick's Rock What You Got--nominated for a 2009 GRAMMY Award in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category.

Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah's Umbrella (Big Idea/Word Distribution) stayed at No. 1 on SoundScan's Christian Videos list for sales the week ending Aug. 23, while Casting Crowns' self-titled disc (Beach Street Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution) remained atop Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart.

Joel C. Rosenberg--author of Inside the Revolution: How the Followers of Jihad, Jefferson & Jesus are Battling to Dominate the Middle East and Transform the World (Tyndale House Publishers)--is holding a live town hall Webcast Friday, Sept. 11.

More than 440 churches have signed up to carry "The Threat of Radical Islam and the Church's Response," set for Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Tyndale officials said. The program will be broadcast on 750 radio stations in either a live or delayed format.

Mixing up inventory to meet consumers' changing needs Print Email

Christian retailers are mixing up their inventory in an effort to better meet consumers' changing needs.

Seventy percent of stores have increased the space they give to DVDs in the past two years, while 40% have cut the room given to rock/alternative music, according to the latest Christian Retailing magazine Vital Signs industry survey.

Health category aims to deliver ‘facts not fads’ Print Email

Christian publishers and retailers alike are pumped about health and fitness books. They say that the category is on the rise with more people looking for help from a biblical point of view to stay in shape or take care of their bodies.

People are looking for inspiration and encouragement from those "who have ‘been there and done that,' offering hope from their stories," Gospel Light Vice President for Sales and Marketing Bob Bever told Christian Retailing magazine.

A new Webinar focusing on improving music sales in Christian retail stores has been added to the Virtual Christian Retailing Show.

Hosted by Christian Retailing magazine, the Web-based event features 25 exhibitors, presenting products and extending some special offers to buyers. Since it was launched July 20, the virtual show has attracted more than 3,700 visits from 61 countries.

Thomas Nelson tops fiction category Print Email

Thomas Nelson reports that it has claimed the largest market share percentage of fiction in the Christian retail channel through June--more than 20%, according to the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association's Pubtrack data system's quarterly category analysis report for the first two quarters of the year. The report ranks bookstore sales of more than 200 publishers in the category.

"We listen closely to the readers and retailers to deliver the optimal mix of genres, formats and prices for our novels," said Allen Arnold, senior vice president and publisher of fiction at Thomas Nelson. "And in just five years, we're honored to be the No. 1 Christian fiction publisher--with one out of every five novels bought at Christian retail since the beginning of 2009 published by Thomas Nelson."
