The Advanced Writers & Speakers Association (AWSA) has announced the 2010 finalists for the Golden Scroll Awards, which recognizes the editors and publishing houses that best demonstrate outstanding ministry partnerships with their authors.

Publisher of the Year Award finalists are Guideposts Books, Harvest House Publishers and Tyndale House Publishers. Editor of the Year finalists are Lonnie Hull DuPont (Baker Publishing Group), Cindy Lambert (Zondervan) and Carla Williams (WinePress Publishing Group). Fiction Editor of the Year finalists are Sue Brower (Zondervan), Melissa Endlich (Steeple Hill) and Barbara Scott (Abingdon Press).

Marketsquare Africa 2010, a three-country convention organized earlier this month by Christian Trade Association International (CTAI), was well-received, according to organizers.

Held April 12-13 in Lagos, Nigeria, Marketsquare Africa drew 118 Nigerian Christian publishers, distributors and retailers, who met with suppliers from China, Denmark, South Africa and the United States.

LifeWay Christian Stores expands to Northwest Print Email

LifeWay Christian Stores has acquired the Christian Supply stores in Portland /Beaverton, Ore., and Spokane, Wash. The acquisition was completed April 19, and both stores reopened as LifeWay Christian Stores on April 21.

Changes announced for Hachette's imprints Print Email

Hachette Book Group (HBG) USA has announced changes to its Nashville-based FaithWords and Center Street, which will help broaden the reach of the two imprints.

Rolf Zettersten, HBG senior vice president and publisher of FaithWords and Center Street, said a few new positions will be created, and Center Street's staff will be moved to the parent company's New York City office, where they will have more opportunity to work directly with literary agents and media.
