The third movie in "The Chronicles of Narnia" film series is partnering with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) to encourage participation in collecting gifts for needy children worldwide.

Many Christian retailers, including LifeWay Christian Stores, take part annually in the Samaritan's Purse program--which features shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children.

Scheduled to open in theaters Dec. 10, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader features Edmund and Lucy Pevensie (Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley) along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter), who find themselves swallowed into a painting and onto a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the edges of the world.

Henley has recorded a special introductory video on the Operation Narnia Web site, www.operationnarnia.org, encouraging families, churches and ministries to support OCC.

"We're very excited to participate in the upcoming release of the movie," said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Samaritan's Purse. "We want children around the world to know the true meaning of Christmas--the birth of Jesus Christ--and the joy and hope that this brings."

Since 1993, OCC has delivered shoe boxes in more than 130 countries to more than 77 million children suffering from poverty, disaster, disease and war.
