Gundry told Christian Retailing that 35% of Zondervan's book sales come from the scholarly/academic market; "It's a very steady revenue source for us that's not as subject to the ups and downs of the trade market." He will attend the two-day annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) Wednesday through Friday, and then the annual meetings of the Institute for Biblical Research (IBR), the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) until next Tuesday.
Zondervan planned to have a booth at the ETS meeting, where attendees could meet three biblical language authors: Daniel B. Wallace, Miles V. Van Pelt and William D. Mounce.
Several staff members from Baker Publishing Group were to be present at the meetings, with the group planning to host a reception for its Brazos Press and Baker Academic imprints on Saturday, and an in-booth reception on Sunday "to celebrate new and forthcoming releases on theological engagement with Scripture," a company statement said.
